Trip with the Leikaufs

On September 1, 2014, Gerd and Heidi Leikauf (Neighbors of the Böhringers in Pyrbaum) came from Las Vegas to spent a couple of days with us. We visited Jerome and other local attractions.

We all departed on Sep 4 towards Kanab, Utah where we stayed at the Rd Hills Best Western.. The next day we drove to Page, AY for a 2 1/2 hour boat tour on Lake Powell. Click on link for video.

Sep 6, we took Highway 89 up to Bryce Canyon.

From Bryce Canyon back to Highway 89 and up north to Panguith, then Highway 20  over to Interstate 15 and south to Cedar City.

In the morning soth on I-15 to Kolobs Canyon, which is the most western part of Zion National Park
Here is a short video of the highway within Kolob's Canyon,
In the afternoon, off towards Cedar Breaks, a National Monument. (Video below)

Cedar Breaks Nat. Monument

After visiting Kolob's Canyon and Cedar Breaks Monument, we took off from Cedar City for Las Vegas. On the way along I-15 there were a few construction areas. Once in Las Vegas, staying at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino, we watched the local TV news and learned that there was a flash flood along the area we just drove about an hour earlier. The freeway was covered with mud and drivers had to be rescued.  The road was closed for days.
