On April 25, 2014 our son Glen was admitted to Banner Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix for a single by-pass heart surgery. It was done by Dr. Fang, using a robotic system, which he has performed a few time quite successfully.
The surgery was completed around 1 pm, the surgeon informed us that Glen would be waking up in about four hours. However he never woke up. A nurse tried to get some response from him by asking him to squeeze her hand (left), but he vaguely responded with his right hand.
His family stayed with him through Saturday and Sunday. A Neurosurgeon was called, a scan of Glen's head was done. The result was devastating, he must have suffered a stroke and the selling of his brain so extreme, that the doctor said he would have to operate on his brain. We had five minutes to decide. However Glen had executed a will living will stating that no extreme measures to be taken if they cannot guarantee a return to a reasonable quality of life Some life support was discontinued. We, the parents, stayed with him and said good-bye. His brother Thomas who had arrived from Sacramento, together with Glen's friend Ken took on the task to get everything taken care of. Tuesday April 29, 2014 all remaining life support was disconnected, and Glen was declared deceased by attending physicians.
We will be missing our son forever, we would wished for him to have many more years, especially for his children Alexis and Luca.
